- paint (2+ colors)
- letter stickers of varying sizes
STEP 1: PAINT BASE LAYER(S) [for the letters]
STEP 1: I wanted my letters to be a mix of a sandy beige color and light blue, so I started by covering the blank canvas with a thin layer of the beige (pic. 1-4). Before it dried completely, I applied a layer of the blue paint over top leaving streaks of the beige peeking through (pic. 5-6).
STEP 2-4: APPLY STICKERS // PAINT TOP LAYER // REMOVE STICKERS
STEP 2: Once the paint was dry, I gathered up my letter stickers and cut them out so I could play with them and figure out an arrangement I liked, then I stuck them all on (pic. 1-3). // STEP 3: I took some brown paint and a small brush and carefully painted over the letters, covering the entire canvas and the sides (pic. 3-6) // STEP 4: I peeled the letters off (pic. 8-9).
The paint bled through on some of the letters, but I still really like how it turned out – makes it look kind of rustic… or something.
This is one of Andrew’s favorite verses and I’m really excited to have it hanging up in our home… someday… when I get around to actually hanging all of this artwork I’ve been making.
