I’m some what of a hoarder when it comes to glass containers. Wine bottles, pasta sauce jars, juice bottles – my kitchen cabinet is overflowing with all of them. I decided to make use of a few by painting them up all cute and turning them into vases.
SUPPLIES:
jars // contact paper // scissors // spray paint
STEP 1: CLEAN THE JARS
I chose three jars of varying heights and circumferences, removed the paper, and ran them through the dishwasher. There was still some glue stuck to the sides even after the wash, but WD-40 and a little scrubbing got rid of that.
STEP 2: MAKE THE STENCIL
I started by cutting a piece of contact paper to be the same height as the jar and able to wrap all the way around it.
The large chevron pattern was the only one I sketched before cutting, I free handed the polka dots and used pinking sheers for the small chevron stripes.
STEP 3: STICK ON THE STENCIL
STEP 4: PAINT IT
STEP 5: PEEL OFF CONTACT PAPER
STEP 6: FILL WITH FLOWERS, CANDLES, ETC. & DISPLAY
What do you do with them?

Very pretty - love the clean lines and color combo with the vases next to each other.
These are SUPER cute! Such a great idea. Thanks so much for sharing!
Fabulous! Thanks for showing how you made the contact paper stencils. I'm currently in the process of making cake/dessert stands using jars for the bases of them. My husband doesn't understand why I keep all the jars. Oh well! :)
Thanks for sharing!

Great idea, the jars look fabulous! I have tons of baby food jars and contact paper laying around the house, and I'll definitely add this project to my to-do list.
I made these: http://createohlala.blogspot.se/2012/04/diy-baby-food-jar-vases-gor-det-sjalv.html before, and will add more jars done your way to complete my baby food jar vase collection! :-)
These are so cool and pretty! I've been wanting to paint some plain jars too.. I think I need to get busy on that! p.s. I caught a glimpse in one of your photos of some huge scrabble wall art ... those are awesome! :)
