Thanksgiving Day 2012

November 27, 2012

You probably were not expecting to see pictures of a bunch of animals in a post about Thanksgiving, but that’s what you get in our family! It’s a tradition in Andrew’s family to go to the Cleveland Zoo on Thanksgiving morning – free admission for the holiday! I usually skip out on this because November weather in Ohio is kind of a nightmare. At least that’s usually the case. Luckily this year we had a beautiful Thanksgiving day so I was willing to participate in the zoo time merriment.

We didn’t have a whole lot of time since we all needed to be back for various dinner arrangements, so we spent the majority of our time in the Primates, Cats, and Aquatics building.

Just keep swimming…

The lights changed color every few seconds in the jellyfish tank. I wish I could have gotten a picture of them with each different color. They’re so fun to watch!

We had fun watching the fossa (that’s what that ^ is) run back and forth doing back flips off the side of the tree. That was until Andrew showed up, then it decided to lunge at the glass.
It was exciting.

Red pandas are just fantastic.

Aside from the primates, cats, and aquatics, we also got to spend some time with the wallabies and the elephants – which are one of my favorites to see.

After the zoo, Andrew and I headed over to my sister’s house to eat our first meal with my family.

This little bug decided to make the food box her new home. =(^.^)=

I didn’t really take any pictures from the actual dinners to share with you – does that make me a bad blogger? I’m just not used to stopping the festivities to snap pictures of everything. I did manage to get a few shots of some of the dishes I made though.

Top: Pumpkin Bread // Bottom: Peanut Butter Pie
I also made a double layer pumpkin cheesecake, but no pictures of that. Sorry!

We’re goof balls.

After dinner we played Scatergories and Catch Phrase with my family then headed over to Andrew’s parent’s house for our second Thanksgiving meal. Once the feasting had finished we gathered back around the table for our traditional game (or 4 games) of BANG!.

I won 3/4 times. :)

Hope you all had fantastic Thanksgiving Day celebrations as well!
Do you have fun holiday traditions?

P.S. In case you missed it, here’s Hugo in his Thanksgiving day outfit. :)
