So, Here’s the Deal…

March 23, 2013

Before we get started, I’ll warn you that this is a text heavy post, but if you make it all the way through you’ll be rewarded with an adorable picture of Hugo. I suppose you could just scroll to the end and see it without reading, but I’ll pretend that you guys would never do that to me…

Moving on…

I know I’ve been pretty absent from the blogging world for the past few months. My priorities have been needed elsewhere. That’s just how life is, and while I can’t promise there wont be periods of silence in the future, I think I’m finally ready to get back to a regular posting schedule. During my time away I realized some changes needed to be made first. Spring’s suppose to be the time for making changes right? Anyway, I don’t know how long it will take before everything’s finished (I’m hoping not longer than a week or so) but here ‘s a list of some things that will be happening.

Outfit Posts. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about where I buy my clothes, and more importantly, how those clothes are being manufactured. I’m not going to preach at you about sweatshops and unethical working conditions, but it’s always been something at the back of my conscience.  I’m not saying that I’m never going to buy from stores like Forever 21, Rue 21, or Target ever again (I’m only human) but I want to try to find more clothes/accessories that are ethically produced. If I do outfit posts in the future (still not sure if I’ll keep doing them – they’re really awkward!) I’m only going to post ones that feature something from those shops. So if you know of any places that sell handmade/thrifted/ethically manufactured clothes, let me know! I’d love to give them my support.

I hope that didn’t sound too pretentious. I’m not trying to put down those stores or people who shop there – after all, I’m one of them. I also realize that a lot more than clothing is produced under unethical conditions, but that’s an issue for another day.

Book Reviews. I wont be doing anymore in depth book reviews here. If you’re interested in what I’m reading or what I think about books I’ve already read, you can check out my Goodreads account.

Projects. I’ll still be posting projects, just not nearly as often as before. A lot of what I DIY is based on projects I find on Pinterest, so I don’t think it’s necessary or fair to post my own tutorials for them. From now on I’m only posting projects that I came up with on my own or that I’m really proud of (with links to the original tutorial of course).

Free Printables. This is something I want to keep doing, and doing more of. I might even turn it into a weekly feature if I think I can turn them out fast enough.

Followers. If you haven’t already heard, Google Reader is getting the boot and along with it Google Friends Connect is getting nixed as well. I’ve been contemplating getting rid of it for a while now anyway, so I guess that just sealed the deal. You can still follow via bloglovin’ though.

Sponsors. For a while at least, I won’t be offering button swaps or paid ad spots. I feel like it’s unfair since I haven’t been posting much lately and my content is changing which could effect my audience and readership. So until I have that all established and under control again there won’t be anymore sponsorships.

Content in General. I want to start showcasing more of my designs, and hopefully use the blog to promote my future shop (still in the works). I’ll still write about life events, my cat, and my feelings from time to time, and I’ll certainly still share interesting, geeky, and cute things via Friday Favorites, but I’d really like to shift the focus of my blog onto my designs.

I think that’s about it besides some layout changes which you’ll just have to wait to see. Oh, and if you’re still reading my blog even after my extensive absence and all the changes being made, thank you – you make me happy and keep me motivated to stick with this whole blogging thing.

Oh, right, that cute picture I promised.

Isn’t he precious!
