Michelle Lesniak Franklin is the winner of Project Runway season 11 and one of my favorite designers to ever be on the show. She describes her aesthetic as "Pacific Northwest geek-chic" but I see a bit of steampunk in her designs as well.
This was my favorite piece that she made on the show. I seriously could not stop thinking about this outfit after seeing it. The ruffled, tiered skirt; The asymmetric zipper and painted train on the jacket; It’s just perfect.
Here are a few of my other favorites of Michelle’s from throughout the season:
Okay, I need a quilted breast plate harness now. NEED!
I can’t get over this coat. And that clip on messenger bag is amazing.
I used to be really into fashion design and would constantly be sketching up outfit ideas, but it’s been years and years and years since I’ve designed anything. Michelle Lesniak Franklin’s edgy, steampunked, “geek chic” style may have just reignited that passion though.
