DIY: Polaroid Display

May 13, 2013

Confession: These aren’t real polaroids. I made them using normal photos and notecards, then I strung them across a canvas. If you’d like to try making this yourself, here’s what you’ll need:

SUPPLIES:

  • b&w photos
  • notecards (any size should be fine)
  • clothespins
  • string
  • glue/sticky tack
  • canvas
  • paint (optional)

DIRECTIONS

1. create the polaroids by cutting your photos into squares and gluing them into the backs of notecards, then trim the notecards to fit the photos // 2. if you want your canvas to be a different color, now would be the time to paint it // 3. tie strings around the canvas for your polaroids to hang from – you might need to glue the strings down in the back if you can’t tie them tight enough // 4. clip the photos onto the string with the clothespins – I used some sticky tack to keep the clothespin in place and not weigh the string down too much

Add some cute sentiments on your faux polaroids and you’re good to go!

I've been looking for ways to decorate with polaroids lately, after discovering poladroid.net, which turns your pictures into polaroids. This is super cute!

I love the idea of making your own polaroids by cutting photos into square and mounting them on cardstock! ...or you could use Instagrams. Fabulous!
