Bits of Home: Our Bedroom [part 1]

I’ve been putting a lot of effort into fixing up our tiny apartment lately. I don’t know if it’s because we’re having guests over soon or I’m just sick of living in boring, undecorated spaces, but I finally made myself do some of the “around the house” projects I’ve been planning since we moved in… five months ago.

One of the spaces I recently worked on was our bedroom. The room is pretty small so there isn't much too show, but this is what I’ve done with my side. Andrew and I share a closet and a dresser now so I needed a little extra space for some of my clothes.

I used some of those stackable wire cubes you can get at Wal-Mart or Target to store my undershirts, tank tops, and running gear.

I enclosed the side of the top cube and left the top open to store all of my scarves and used the corners to hang a couple of my hats.

I hung my sunhats on the wall with thumbtacks. For some reason I’m less intimidated to put holes in the wall with thumbtacks than actual nails.

I don’t have a lot of jewelry, nor do I wear it often, but I decided to display my necklaces with a corkboard (again hung with thumbtacks) and I put my bracelets on a few bottles I’ve had sitting around (I can’t seem to throw away glass containers remember).

I hung one of the wire cubes on the wall with the big 7 lb. Command hooks (I didn’t think thumbtacks would cut it this time).

I keep my glasses hooked through the holes in the cube.

I used our old TV table to organize my t-shirts, jeans/shorts, and hoodies.

Then covered it with pretty scarf I never wear.

It feels really nice to actually live in a decorated home. Even if we only end up living here a few more months, at least they’ll be a little happier and prettier. I can’t wait to show you guys the rest of our place as it all comes together.

  6. Great ideas for organizing/storing these items in a small space. And even decorative with the glass bottles and hats on the wall.
