I found these Star Wars puzzles at the Dollar Store a while back and couldn’t pass them up. I mean, how could I say no to puzzles of my favorite characters that glow in the dark? Or at least they’re suppose to… I have yet to see them glow, but for $1 I can’t really complain. Anyway, I thought they would make nice artwork for our living room.

After putting the puzzles together I covered them with Mod Podge (don’t worry, it dries clear).

I made sure to fill in all the creases between the puzzle pieces.

Then waited for it to dry.

I also put a thin layer of Mod Podge on the back of the puzzle for some extra hold.

After framing the puzzles, I did the whole paper template thing to figure out where to put the nails in the wall.

Then I hung ‘em up!

I already had this frame and matting on hand, but the glass was broken. Since the puzzles are pretty sturdy on their own I felt okay with not having glass in the frames.

I bought the second frame from Target. It was the closest I could find to the size of the frame I already had (only an inch wider) but it didn’t come with any matting. Luckily I had some poster board on hand that I cut up to match the dimensions of the matting from my other frame.

I love, love, love how they turned out! They might just be my favorite decorations in our place. Who knew you could find such awesome artwork at the Dollar Store?

Have you ever discovered great art or decorations in an unexpected place?
