5 Favorite Harry Potter Characters | allonsykimberly.com

“List of the Week” is a new weekly segment where I write about 5 things pertaining to a particular topic. The lists can cover anything from favorite characters to most embarrassing moments to weird items I keep in my desk. Feel free to take part in the list making as well! It’s a fun and easy way to get to know people around the blogosphere.

Since today is Harry Potter’s birthday, I thought it would be fitting to make this week’s prompt Favorite Harry Potter Characters. Here are my picks:

5. HERMIONE GRANGER

She’s smart and loves to learn and was never ashamed of it. Without her Harry and Ron would probably have never even made it past First Year at Hogwarts. She was never afraid to stand up for herself - she slapped Malfoy in the face! (or punched if you prefer the movie) Plus she’s got a giant pet cat named Crookshanks.

4. CEDRIC DIGGORY

“Cedric Diggory was, as you all know, exceptionally hard working, infinitely fair-minded, and most importantly, a fierce, fierce friend. …a boy who was kind, and honest, and brave, and true. Right to the very end.” I couldn’t have put it any better than Dumbledore.

3. RONALD WEASLEY

Ron Weasley is a loyal friend and incredibly brave. I mean, he took on a Mountain Troll to save a girl he supposedly didn’t even like, sacrificed himself in a dangerously brutal chess game, and followed a bunch of spiders (his biggest fear) into the Dark Forest to help Harry. He’s also super funny. His jokes and witty quips are some of my favorites things from the books.

2. CHARLIE WEASLEY

Charley Weasley is such an underappreciated character. He only appears a few times in the books and you never see him in the movies, but he’s one of my favorite characters from the series. He left his home and his family to follow his dreams of dragon taming in Romania. That had to take some serious chutzpah. And he works with DRAGONS! which is pretty awesome.

1. LUNA LOVEGOOD

What isn’t there to love about Luna? She’s quirky and marches to the beat of her own drum without caring about what other people think and say about her. Despite suffering the tragic loss of her mother, Luna always remains in good spirits. She’s also clever, knows how to stand her ground, and never questions her beliefs no matter how many people think she’s loony.

It feels kind of turdish to write this post on Harry’s birthday and not even include him on the list, but oh well. I also decided to only pick from characters of the main series, disregarding the next-gen, because then I would have to include Rose and Scorpius and it would just have opened up a can of worms and it would have taken me even longer to write this post.

Oh! And I was thinking of possibly turning this Weekly Lists series into a link-up party, but I don’t think I’d get enough people to participate. Is that something anyone would be interested in? If not, that’s cool, I’ll keep these posts to myself. But, I thought it could be a fun way to get to know and interact with each other.

Okay, I’ve blathered on for long enough now. Have an awesome day!

  2. Oooh. Draco almost made my list! I just love the complexity of his character especially in the last two books. But he was just such a butt in the first five! Lol.
