Let's Talk About Books (List of the Week No. 3) | allonsykimberly.com

“List of the Week” is a weekly segment where I write about 5 things pertaining to a particular topic. The lists can cover anything from favorite characters to most embarrassing moments to weird items I keep in my desk. Feel free to take part in the list making as well! It’s a fun and easy way to get to know people around the blogosphere.

Since one of my B425 goals is to read at least one new book a month, I thought I’d share some of the books I’ve read recently, as well as what I’m currently reading and what I plan to read next.

AN ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES: This book was okay. It wasn’t anything special in my opinion and the characters weren’t very likable. It was an easy read and mildly entertaining though. I give it 2/5 stars.

A GAME OF THRONES: Okay, this book took my for-ev-er to get through. Not because it was bad, it was just huge and there were so many characters, places, and plots that needed to be introduced that it seemed daunting to pick up at times. But, I’m glad I kept at it because it  ended up being quite an exciting read. I give it 4/5 stars.

I AM NUMBER FOUR: Oh geeze, this book. I seriously have nothing good to say about it or it’s author. So, I’m just going to leave it at that. 0/5 stars.

THE KILL ORDER: I loved The Maze Runner and it’s sequels weren’t horrible either (you can find my reviews of them here and here). The prequel though, just didn’t do it for me. It wasn’t a bad read, just not what I had hoped for. I give it 2/5 stars.

THE FAULT IN OUR STARS: I’m probably the last person on the planet to have read this book, but I’m glad I gave into the hype. It was thought provoking, funny, and heart breaking. I give it 4/5 stars.

SPEAKER FOR THE DEAD: This is the sequel to Ender’s Game and so far it’s very exciting and interesting. I’m about half way through right now and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds.

A CLASH OF KINGS: Well, I liked the first one, so I have to continue reading the series.

THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY: I probably should have read this one a long time ago. It’s just one of those books you have to read in your lifetime.

HOPE FOR ANIMALS AND THEIR WORLD: I like to throw in a few non-fiction books into my reading repertoire and I love animals and helping/saving animals and Jane Goodall so this seems like a perfect fit for me.

LIFE OF PI: I loved the movie adaptation of this book and would like to see how it compares to the original work.

STAR WARS: ALLEGIANCE: It’s been a looong time since I’ve read a Star Wars novel. Too long if you ask me, and I’ve had this book sitting on my shelf for 6 years. I actually read like half of it 3 years ago, sooo I should probably finish it.

What are you reading? Have any recommendations? Leave ‘em in the comments!

  1. Yay! I'm so excited for you to read Hitchhiker's for the first time. I'd have to say it's one of my favourite books of all time and something I like to reread from time to time. Enjoy!

  2. I just started reading it a few nights ago and I'm loving it so far. :)

I love your feedback and I try my best to reply to everyone's comments so please make sure that you're not a "no-reply blogger" or leave your email in the comment if you'd like a response. Thanks so much!
