My Life in September 2014

October 06, 2014

A friend of mine organized a Walk for Farm Animals last month. It was a morning of walking around Cleveland to raise awareness for the abuse and mistreatment of animals used in factory farming. I didn’t participate in the walk, but I did enjoy some yummy vegan food and got to watch my friend, Matt, perform songs from his side project Cascades. And I may have befriended a squirrel.

Summer came to a close last month, but that didn’t stop us from visiting the lake. It was too cold to swim, but we walked along the shore, collecting sea glass and watching the sunset.

I got to see The Maze Runner and I was actually quite pleased with it. It’s been a couple years since I read the book, so I couldn’t remember a lot of the details to know if they were portrayed well, but from what I could recall it was pretty accurate. I was excited to find out that the sequel has been confirmed and set to release next September. The last two books are such a different setting from the first story though, so it will be interesting to see how that translates onto the big screen.

I went to another one of my friend’s shows. I know I’m probably a bit biased, but he is mega talented. You should definitely check out his facebook page if you’re into good music. :)

Andrew and I finally got to take a vacation together last month! It was just for the weekend, but it was still so refreshing to get away and to be alone even just for two days. Our first day was spent swimming and eating some delicious pizza from the lodge’s restaurant. Then we went for a 4+ mile hike the next afternoon, followed by a quick dip in the pool, and dinner at a fantastic local (to the area we were staying in) restaurant. I ordered Monty Python’s Holy Grail Ale and had blueberry meringue pie. It was glorious.

September was pretty spectacular. Here’s hoping for an even better October!
